A Bit About Us
The Acute Optic Neuritis Study (ACON)
In Multiple Sclerosis, treatment of optic neuritis with IVMP hastens recovery but does not impact final visual outcome. This has led to a widespread sense of non-urgency in the treatment of all forms of ON. However, this treatment paradigm needs to change, since patients with NMOSD- and MOGAD-related ON carry a much poorer visual prognosis. Unilateral or bilateral blindness has been reported in up to 60% of patients with NMOSD, and in 36% of patients with MOGAD-related ON.
The ACON initiative aims to coordinate studies, all focused on the acute stage of optic neuritis.
